About the Academy

The Academy commenced Term 3, 2004. This is the newest Helen O’Grady Drama Academy in New Zealand. The parents and children are beginning to find out about us and what we do – so we will grow from strength to strength equipping young people with those essential life skills of confidence, communication skills and self-esteem.

From an early age I have pursued an avid interest in dance, movement, and the theatre arts, and felt the huge benefit from the creativity.

Self-development and personal growth have been a theme throughout my life and my teaching career. I have taught children to adults in England, the United States, and for 20 years, in New Zealand - of which six years are with the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy.

From the moment I first encountered the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy system I was thrilled with the quality, power, and effectiveness of this dynamic programme. We launched it in 2004 ini the Hawke's Bay and I have been really passionate about positive outcomes ever since then.

I believe we all need to develop our creative imagination, and interpersonal skills - particularly in today's context where technology has an increasing impact on our daily lives.

I feel very priveleged to be able to pass on the life skills of Confidence, Communication and Creativity to our children and the life skills of Presentation, Performance and Public Speaking to our Adults, through our unique programme, in this area.
